Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
- 3 Tbsp. Flour
- 1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. Ground Ginger
- 1/4 tsp. Ground Nutmeg
- 7 cups Thinly Sliced Apples
- 1 Tbsp. Lemon Juice
- 1 Tbsp. Butter
- 1 Large Egg White
- 1 pkg Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Sheets
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg: and set aside.
- In a larger bowl, toss peeled and sliced apples with lemon juice.
- Add sugar mixture and toss to coat.
- Line a 9 inch pie plate with bottom crust: trim pastry even with edge.
- Fill with apple mixture and dot with butter.
- Roll out remaining pastry to fit top of pie and place over filling.
- Trim, seal and flute edges. Cut slits in pastry.
- Beat egg white until foamy and brush over pastry, dusting with sugar.
- Cover edges loosely with foil as they will cook much more quickly than the center of the pie.
- Bake at 375F for 25 minutes then remove foil and bake 20 to 25 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
- Cool on a wire rack.
