Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. Flour
  • 1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. Ground Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. Ground Nutmeg
  • 7 cups Thinly Sliced Apples
  • 1 Tbsp. Lemon Juice
  • 1 Tbsp. Butter
  • 1 Large Egg White
  • 1 pkg Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Sheets

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg: and set aside.
  2. In a larger bowl, toss peeled and sliced apples with lemon juice.
  3. Add sugar mixture and toss to coat.
  4. Line a 9 inch pie plate with bottom crust: trim pastry even with edge.
  5. Fill with apple mixture and dot with butter.
  6. Roll out remaining pastry to fit top of pie and place over filling.
  7. Trim, seal and flute edges. Cut slits in pastry.
  8. Beat egg white until foamy and brush over pastry, dusting with sugar.
  9. Cover edges loosely with foil as they will cook much more quickly than the center of the pie.
  10. Bake at 375F for 25 minutes then remove foil and bake 20 to 25 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
  11. Cool on a wire rack.
